Walking in the Rain?

So, the nightly hour's walk home from the train station does not work out every night. If it rains, that kind of puts a damper on the evening. But of course, I like walking and dislike unnecessary expenses, so where do I draw the line?
It's actually pretty simple. If it's not raining that much, I'll walk. If it's only misty, drizzling, or sprinkling, I can handle it. Then I just keep walking. Of course, the rain could easily pick up while I'm walking, so the question to ask is, can I keep walking right now? If the rain becomes unbearable, I'll get on the bus at the next relevant bus stop in my path. Unbearable means the rain is pouring hard. This also means that my shirt and pants are really wet, drops of water are running down my face, and a river is forming in the street.
And if there's no bus stop in sight, I'll just wear my poncho that I carry everyday.
Now that I'm riding my bike, I need to make the decision as soon as I step outside in the morning. Is it raining hard? If not, I take my bike and ride it to the train station. Then, I have also made the commitment to ride it back home at night, seeing as how I usually can't take a bike onto a bus.
So the decision to be made, when deciding whether to walk or take the bus, is, is it worth $2 to get home? I don't care about the increased security of a vehicle or the shorter time. I'm not afraid of the street, and I have a low time preference. It has to be raining really hard. I have to decide that walking in the rain is unbearable before I shell out that $2 (soon to be $2.25) from my MetroCard.
