Post-EggCon Reflections

Somehow, for everyone, it's been a short summer. Back in the days of 2002-2003, we had long summers. Perhaps it's because those years had some record highs, and perhaps it's because we were filming something almost every day.
In any case, summer is over, concluded Labor Day weekend with the first annual EggCon - where we discussed how far the company has come, what we're up to now, and where we're headed.
VaultWiki customers will be glad to note, that although it wasn't a highlighted topic at EggCon, a number of staff did make comments about it and answered some questions about its development and marketing. Nick mentioned that as of August 2009 we had accrued over 100 customers. He also mentioned that even though the company has interests in media production, [arsenal=CES VaultWiki]VaultWiki[/arsenal] is very important to the future of the company: it currently provides our main source of revenue, and is actively developed as a distribution platform for our specific needs.
At EggCon, we also mentioned a number of projects currently in development, and our plans to release new installments of Bongomon, The Twisted Mile, and Ni-Ki-Oh! in the near future. The audience's questions began to degrade in terms of seriousness and relevance during the second panel (Bongomon); however, each panel was still asked a number of excellent questions that I think the panelists were able to handle quite well - even though several of the panelists, such as Rich Falantano, an actor on Ni-Ki-Oh!, were not privy to some higher level information.
Since EggCon, we released (last night) the 2001 parody Mortal Combat, which was advertised in a trailer about what's coming to the web site before the close of 2009. We also shot a scene in a local diner for the next episode of The Twisted Mile - a milestone in Cracked Egg Studios history as the first fictitious scene to be filmed in a commercial establishment - with express permission, mind you. This scene is currently being rough-cut for review by partners in Connecticut this weekend.
Although I won't be getting to it within the next week, I'm particularly excited to start working on the web release of Ni-Ki-Oh! The trailer that was presented at EggCon was very inspiring and I can't wait to reach the season 4 material. It suggests that in new episodes, Niki (the hero) undergoes some kind of transformation and may actually turn out to be one of the bad guys.
I should also mention - and a number of people that worked on it should be pleased about this - that although the sequence wasn't complete for the Isles of Fortune trailer, a shorter teaser was presented to the public during the first panel at EggCon, in which Cracked Egg Studios made some general announcements.
We also suggested at EggCon that even though we've done a lot of comedy in the past, we've done work in many genres, and are looking for more "serious" projects in the future to balance out our repertoire. Since then we've had a number of pitches that are being entertained, but nothing has been greenlit as of yet.
Video coverage of EggCon will be posted when I return from Connecticut next week.
